Organizers

WordCamp Lehigh Valley is a community-organized event put together by local WordPress users like you who volunteer their time and energy to support WordPress in the Lehigh Valley.

I have been using WordPress since 2012, enjoy meeting other WP Users and learning from them and helping others learn more about WordPress! I am co-organizer of Lehigh Valley Meetup and am regular attendee of Northwest NJ Meetup and Reading WordPress Meetup.

Food & After Party

I began building Websites in 1998. Email lists like Chicago WebWomen and Philly WebWomen were where I met my teachers, mentors, employers and friends.  From when the question was as simple as “How do I make my text blink?” I have always valued community input.

After attending WordCamp NYC in ’09 I was in love with WordPress and its people.  Since then WordCamps have not only been a source of education, they have been a place to meet people from all over the world and make connections long valued.

In my spare time also co-organize our local WordPress Meetup, serve as a chapter leader for Girl Develop It Lehigh Valley, serve on the board of a local non-profit and teach Sunday school to the sweetest bunch of 3’s & 4’s you have ever seen!

Budget

I am a business owner of a small web design/development/hosting company, with over 30 years of experience operating in the Lehigh Valley. I love to help individual and small to medium size companies bring their dreams into reality with their identity and web presence.

The design and web industry has grown in leaps and bounds in recent years and WordPress has been a driving force for those changes. My initial interest was purely commercial as a survival tactic to stay relevant but I didn’t count on falling in love with the community behind it. I joined the LV WordPress Meetup to participate in the exchange of knowledge and ideas with a group of fantastic individuals learning and creating WordPress sites. I helped with the first two Lehigh Valley WordCamp and attended my very first WordCamp US in Philly. What a fantastic experience!

I live a very busy life with many personal interests such as cooking, reading and the outdoors, which is where you’ll find me when I am not learning about the web, new technologies, and innovations that fascinate me.

Mark Hargrove

Volunteers

I’m a Software Developer and former technical manager.  I’m happy to be a part of the WordPress community in the Lehigh Valley.  People are helpful to each other and I enjoy participating in the WordCamp’s and MeetUp’s to keep up with WordPress and web development.

I’ve only done a couple very small WordPress sites but I have done other larger web sites in raw HTML/ASP.NET etc.  I really enjoy front-end development in JavaScript.

I like to see how WordPress systems can be fast-loading and functional while still being very easy for the site owner to maintain.

I’m on twitter as @MarkHargrove281 but I’m more active on FaceBook here.

Sponsors

I’m co-founder of Paid Memberships Pro, an open-source membership plugin for WordPress founded in 2011. Like most business owners, I wear many hats within the team including frontend developer, designer, copywriter, content marketer and all-around customer support therapist. I’ve been working in web development for over 14 years—what began as a way to make some side money in college is now my full-time career.

I organize the Reading WordPress Meetup and in my (limited) free time, enjoy homesteading with my veggie garden and flock of seven chickens. I have a 9-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter who attend a Montessori school in Berks County.

Koa Kekuna

Website Lead

Born and raised in the Lehigh Valley, Koa discovered his passion for web development 3 years ago. After joining a WordPress meet up last November and witnessing first hand the wonderful, friendly, and supportive local community, he was hooked and has been a regular attendee ever since. He’s incredibly happy and humbled to be able to give back to this incredible group of people.

He currently works as a front end developer for an agency in Philly.

Website

I built my first website in 1998 using just a text editor. I have built and run several hobby websites over the years, but I recently decided to make a career change from architectural drafting to web design. I decided to start learning all things WordPress to be able to create better websites.

Last year, I joined our local WordPress Meetup group and have found it to be a terrific way to meet local users and learn more about WordPress. Although this will be my first time attending our WordCamp Lehigh Valley, I did attend WordCamp Lancaster earlier this year. I am looking forward to meeting more members of the local WordPress community.

I enjoy many other things in my spare time including caring for my cats, riding the local rail trails, reading, writing, Game of Thrones, and cheering on the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

WordCamp Lehigh Valley would also like to thank Seth Goldstein for the photos from the 2017 WordCamp Lehigh Valley and Vivian Makin for several photos of area attractions.
